EMCO's Sono-Trak™ Transit Time ultrasonic flow meter combines advanced non-invasive flow measurement technology with a versatile transmitter design to provide an accurate, maintenance-free, easy-to-install, and easy-to-use measuring system. The Sono-Trak™ Transit Time flow meter, using only one set of transducers, measures liquids for pipe sizes from 2 to 100".

Reliable and Rugged
  • High accuracy: ±0.5% of rate (factory tested); ±2.0% of rate (typical field installation); ±0.1% of rate repeatability
  • Time domain expansion technology improves signal processing and dramatically increases resolution
  • With no moving parts to wear over time, flow meter maintenance is non-existent
  • Rugged, NEMA 6-rated transducers are fully submersible
  • No pressure drop
  • FM and CSA approvals (pending)
Fast & Easy Installation
  • Typical installations take less than 30 minutes with the non-invasive, clamp-on design using all stainless steel quick clamps
  • No worries of flange requirements, pressure ratings, process liquid interaction issues, pipe vibrations, or upstream transitions
  • Heavy-duty, urethane-coated cables are pre-terminated to facilitate a speedy installation
  • Easy-to-read, blue backlit display allows for quick flowmeter set-up, featuring EMCO's patented menu-driven EZ-Logic™ user interface
Features
Flexible
  • The same Sono-Trak flow meter can be installed on line sizes from 2 to 100" (50 to 2540 mm)
  • Plug-and-play input/output module options enable custom electronics configuration and/or field retrofits/upgrades; choose two from: pulse, analog, relay, RS-232, RS-485, BTU, and data logger
  • Standard, built-in infrared capability for use with optional Windows® software

The compact, NEMA 4X-rated, wall-mounted transmitter has a large, easy-to-read backlit display, which alternates between flow rate and totalized flow with corresponding, user-selectable engineering units. The four-button keypad allows for quick flow meter set-up, featuring EMCO's patented menu-driven EZ-Logic™ user interface. Additionally, the standard infrared communication port can be used with the optional Windows® compatible software package and serial interface device to access all configuration and data recording features.

With buffet-style input/output (I/O) module options, the electronics configuration is easily customized. Two I/O sockets will accept any of seven offered modules: pulse, analog, relay, RS-232, RS-485, BTU, and data logger. The modules are "plug-and-play," enabling field upgrades and/or retrofits. The RS-485 module allows single-point viewing of multiple meters in a master/slave configuration. The BTU module accepts two RTD inputs and performs energy calculations. The data logger collects up to 100,000 data points in non-volatile memory and can be removed from the transmitter under power and connected to a standard PC serial port for downloading and data analysis. Full diagnostics are accessible through the display, the standard infrared port, and the optional serial communication modules.

Installation

Installation Specifications
Straight run piping Condition Upstream Downstream
Typical 10 5
Minimum 5 3
Upstream valve and other piping configurations Consult EMCO rep or the Factory Consult EMCO rep or the Factory
Transducer mounting Vertical The recommended flow direction a vertical pipe is upwards.
Horizontal Transducer should be mounted so the pipe is full of liquid with no bubbles present.
Zero-point adjustment For best accuracy, a zero-point setting must be made with a full pipe at no flow during initial start-up.
Air/Gas entrapment Excess gas entrapment can scatter or reflect the sound wave, causing inaccurate measurement. Allowable air/gas entrapment is 2%.
Pipe material Good results Caution needed Do not use on
Most metallic Cast iron Cement
Plastic Lined pipes Pipes with internal deposits or severe corrosion
Sonic wave forms Line size Mounting options
2 to 2.5" (DN50 to DN65) "W"
3 to 12" (DN80 to DN300) "V"
14 to 100" (DN350 to DN2500 "Z"
